The Oklahoma St offense and push from Coach Woz is putting the Cowboys in a good spot here early on. Expect a visit this spring.
Rarely on the internet do I dip outside of 'sports and jokes and arguing about silly shit on the internet' because, well, the internet is silly and jokes and sports and silly shit are fun. Even here, when I do get serious, it's about basketball and it's all still pretty silly.
But I just have to take a moment and say how proud I am that Georgetown was the first college team to wear 'I Can’t Breathe' shirts. We are a school and a program known historically for taking a stand on, and being a vehicle for, social issues. Seeing our basketball team make that statement last night and carry on that tradition, I've never been more proud to be a Georgetown Hoya. The thoughtful and patient discussion that went into the decision was just as, if not more, important, powerful, and encouraging. Watch JTIII, DSR, and Josh Smith talk about the t-shirts starting at the 1:30 mark of the video below.
Also, at halftime, the athletic department showed a video featuring Georgetown Athletes taking the 'It's On Us' pledge, including the entire basketball team. You can watch the video below and read about it here.
Seeing these two major statements on the same night was really powerful and I'm thrilled at the voice and platform the university has given it's student athletes; watching them lend that voice to these important causes and messages is even more impressive and powerful.
Hoya Saxa.
Also, there's that whole SKATEBOARDING DOG MASCOT thing:
